KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Royals offense put up an impressive showing on Sunday, guiding the club to an 8-6 victory over the Seattle Mariners and securing the series.
Seth Lugo (2-4) got the win and the start, going 6.1 innings with six hits, three earned runs, two walks and three strikeouts.

The Mariners got on the board first in the top of the first, after a Julio Rodriguez solo home run to left field.
Salvador Perez gave the Royals the lead in the fifth inning on an RBI single that scored two runs. The captain had a vintage performance, going 3/4 with a game-high three RBIs.
The Royals continued to build their lead in the fifth, scoring two more runs on a Carter Jensen RBI double to go up 4-1.
The Royals took an 8-4 lead into the ninth inning before Seattle made things interesting, tacking on two more runs on RBIs from Rodriguez and Josh Naylor.
But, Lucas Erceg was able to out the inning after Luke Raley grounded out to end the game.

The win puts the Royals at 22-31, sitting four games outside the final Wild Card spot. They will host the New York Yankees for a three-game series starting tomorrow at 2:40 p.m., a team they’ve had plenty of woes against over the past two seasons.
Michael Wacha (4-2) will be on the mound against Will Warren (6-1).
