Whoopi Goldberg just walked out on The View stage while holding a broom — and there’s a very specific reason why.

The EGOT winner and Sister Act star began Tuesday’s live episode by sweeping the stage with the device, following her cohosts out to the Hot Topics table as she held the broom in her hand.

“Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to The View, y’all!” the 70-year-old exclaimed as she continued sweeping the set.

“I just wanted to finish sweeping this up right here. Is that the sweep? Yeah!” Goldberg said as the audience applauded, with Sara Haines also shown wearing a blue-and-orange New York Knicks shirt in celebration of the team’s advancement to the NBA Finals.

Goldberg explained that the broom was meant to signify the historic sweep.

“We want to start off by congratulating the New York Knicks for making it to the NBA Finals for the first time in 27 years after sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers,” Goldberg said. “I have to say, both teams played wonderfully.”

She continued, “I almost get mad at myself because you want to root for your team, but I have to tell you, none of those people would be on that court if they weren’t as good as they are. My hat is off to everybody. To the Knicks, we’ve been waiting a while!”

Haines added that “it’s such a team effort this year” and that she loved “cheering on” the collaborative effort of the city’s sports team, which hasn’t made it to the NBA Finals since 1999.

Panelist Sunny Hostin, a lifelong New Yorker, called it “a special New York moment” for the city, and also praised Mayor Zohran Mamdani for celebrating the victory on social media as well.

Goldberg again lauded the team for making the city proud with their domination over the Cavaliers.

“Whatever happens from here on, we’ve got this right now. New York, the fans are out of their minds, it’s wonderful to see. Watching everybody respond to it,” Goldberg said. “I’m just thrilled for all of us. I’m thrilled for New York!”
