Drake’s latest album Iceman continues making noise across music and sports culture after National Treasure debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, per Billboard.
The track quickly became one of the album’s most talked-about songs because of its Toronto basketball references and lyrics aimed at former DeMar DeRozan.
According to Billboard, “National Treasure” opened with 31.7 million streams during a historic chart week for Drake. The Toronto rapper placed 42 songs on the Hot 100, setting a new single-week record. His song “Janice STFU” also debuted at No. 1, giving Drake his 14th career chart-topping single.
On “National Treasure,” Drake revisited the Raptors’ championship history while referencing Toronto’s blockbuster trade for Kawhi Leonard.
“We must’ve been dealin’ the spur of the moment / ’Cause why did we think you could get us a ring?” Drake rapped before adding several references to “the 6ix.”
“But don’t stick around in the 6ix” and “Boy gotta dip out the 6ix, run out the 6ix, just like you did,” Drake said later in the track.

Raptors History Still Sparks Debate
The lyrics reignited discussion surrounding Toronto’s decision to trade DeRozan to the Spurs in 2018 before the Raptors won the 2019 NBA championship with Leonard.
Drake and DeRozan’s relationship has also cooled publicly following DeRozan’s support for Kendrick Lamar during Lamar’s feud with Drake.
Despite the controversy, “National Treasure” has become one of the biggest songs tied to NBA culture this year.
