Bride’s Front Tooth Fell Out After She Bit into Pizza Just Days Before Her ‘Dream Wedding’

A bride-to-be says her dream wedding was nearly derailed after she lost a front tooth mere days before walking down the aisle.

Katrina Kelly had been preparing for her upcoming destination wedding in Malta with her then-fiancé, John Grevine, for more than two years when the mishap occurred on May 10, according to Kennedy News and Media.

Kelly, 32, said she had been feeling unusually calm and confident about the wedding planning process leading up to the incident.

“We’ve been engaged for two-and-a-half years so we’ve been planning it for ages, there’s been a big buildup,” she said.

“I was bragging to all my friends for the past weeks saying how organized I was, and that I don’t understand what the stress is over a wedding, [saying], ‘It’s so easy, what can go wrong now?’ ”

Kelly, who is a dance teacher from Hampshire, England, said the incident unfolded when she bit into a slice of Co-op’s extra crispy salami and calabrese pizza that her fiancé had prepared at home.

“I bit into the bit of pizza, and I just felt it and knew straight away [what] had happened,” she said, adding that she instantly felt a veneer — which she got 12 years ago after injuring the tooth in an accident involving a door — fall out.

“It was one of these moments where I thought, ‘Please turn back time,’ ” Kelly recalled. “That didn’t happen. The veneer fell out and we both sat in silence.”

“It was awful, I was just in denial,” she continued. “I didn’t want to take the pizza out of my mouth because I didn’t want this to be happening and be real.”

Kelly said she initially attempted to fix the veneer herself before ultimately scheduling an emergency dental appointment.

“I tried to stick it back on but obviously it was too late,” she said.

Kelly added that the timing of the incident was extra stressful since the couple had already spent a significant amount of money on the upcoming wedding.

“Our wedding is in a week and we’ve spent an absolute fortune, so I don’t want to be spending money I don’t have right now,” she explained.

“We’ve got 130 guests flying to Malta and 100 in Malta — so 230 people coming,” Kelly added. “We’ve been saving up for two-and-a-half years and our parents have helped.”

Despite the panic, Kelly said dentists were ultimately able to successfully reattach the veneer ahead of the big day for about $80.

“They managed to glue the veneer back on and I have my teeth back. It went great,” she said.

“It’s not exactly what you need the week before, [but] at least it wasn’t on the morning of,” she added.

With the ordeal behind her, Kelly said she once again was able to get excited for the big day, which was scheduled for May 23.

“It’s my dream wedding. I couldn’t be any more excited,” she said. “We’ve been on cloud nine for the past two-and-a-half years looking forward to it.”
