Orlando musicians raged outside and inside Uncle Lou’s Entertainment Hall this weekend for ‘Free Uncle Lou’ benefit show

Local musician Robby Shambles assembled a veritable army of Orlando performers — including TV Generation, Pinko Beats, Warm Like Winter, Tom Haney, Constant Throw, Why Rhyme, Red Lungs, Anthony Smith and Ran Damone — to rock out for Uncle Lou on Saturday. Performers rotated sets both outside and inside Uncle Lou’s (you read that right, the venue was briefly open over the weened) on Mills Avenue from the early afternoon through the late evening.

Touchingly, Lou himself was somehow able to briefly call in from the ICE detention facility in Baker County during the show. A mic was duly hauled over to the telephone so everyone could hear the man himself thank everyone for everything they are doing. The crowd yelled back that they loved him, and we’re misty-eyed even typing this. Our own Jim Leatherman and Matt Keller Lehman took turns documenting the emotional day.
