With the Los Angeles mayoral race heading toward a primary, actor and comedian Rob Schneider revived his iconic character from the 1998 film The Waterboy to endorse former reality TV star Spencer Pratt.
Appearing on Fox News Channel’s Saturday in America with anchor Peter Doocy, Schneider discussed the race and Pratt’s candidacy. When Doocy asked whether he thought Pratt could win, Schneider responded in his famous Townie voice, saying, “You can do it! But I don’t trust the Democrats!”
Doocy replied, “That’s exactly how I was hoping you would say that.”
What Schneider said
Schneider argued that Democratic Party loyalty has prevented Los Angeles voters from honestly assessing city leadership.
“The Democrats have their ideological captives and they’re not letting it go,” Schneider said. “The thing is, they’ve convinced their people that no matter how bad things are, these people are so evil, somehow it would be worse.”
He used satire to make his point, saying, “It’s like, ‘Yes, your entire town burned down. But imagine if it was burned down by someone who was transphobic? Can you imagine? At least there were rainbow colors to the flames. Yes, there’s a lot of human poop. But imagine if that poop was conservative.”
Schneider then turned his criticism toward incumbent Mayor Karen Bass.

“It literally is the last days of the bunker for Karen Bass,” he said. “They just convinced them it would be way worse if they had a conservative. You gotta try something. Los Angeles, how could it be worse? Try something different!”
Schneider had previously endorsed Pratt during a May 16 appearance on Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany. During that interview, he criticized Bass and said he was “glad to see more people speaking about [the elections], because that’s what it’s going to take.” He added that residents had “nothing to lose,” followed by a wildfire-related remark that drew backlash online.
His endorsement formed part of a broader critique of city leadership that he linked to his support for Pratt’s campaign.
Pratt’s mayoral race
Pratt’s campaign has attracted attention and endorsements from public figures, including Taylor Lautner, Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, Kristin Cavallari and Paris Hilton, according to reports.

Pratt, a registered Republican running as an independent in the nonpartisan election, has climbed to second place in polling ahead of the June 2 primary.
Pratt has repeatedly criticized Bass, accusing her of mishandling wildfire preparedness and response. Reports note that he has blamed city leadership for inadequate fire-response resources and tied his mayoral bid to losing his home in the 2025 Palisades Fire.
Those criticisms have become a central theme of his campaign and have featured prominently in coverage of the race.
