Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey has one of the most recognizable voices in the entertainment world, and you’ll be able to hear it for the Houston Symphony’s opening night.
The Symphony announced McConaughey will be the symphony’s special guest, narrating the performance of Copland’s Lincoln Portrait for one night only on September 19.
It’s a performance celebrating America at 250 through “iconic American music and storytelling.” It will feature three-time Grammy Award winner Isabel Leonard and songs by George Gershwin and classics from the Great American Songbook.

According to the Houston Symphony, subscribers and donors get early access to tickets on June 24, with the remaining tickets going on sale on June 29.

McConaughey is a Texas native, born in Uvalde. He’s an Academy Award-winner and has appeared in more than 50 films. He graduated from the University of Texas with a film degree and went on to join the faculty of the Department of Radio-Television at UT-Austin.
He’s also a mainstay on the sidelines of University of Texas sporting events as one of the school’s biggest fans.
