Perth music fans moonwalked into Crown Perth on Wednesday night to witness the highly anticipated premiere of MJ: The Michael Jackson Musical.
With many arriving in sequined dresses, striking jackets, or simply their favourite Michael moment from over the years, guests were ready for a good time — and the show delivered exactly that.
Starring 23-year-old American Ilario Grant as the lead, the production circled around the tense build up to Jackson’s famous Dangerous Wolrd Tour in the early 90s, while regularly throwing back to his journey to pop superstardom as a member of the Jackson Five.
Grant’s effortless vocals and uncanny dance moves wowed audiences, with younger versions of the King of Pop also winning hearts.
The performance ended with a standing ovation, which quickly evolved into a crowd singalong as the cast encouraged a packed house to continue grooving for several additional minutes.
High profile guests included former Eagles Nic Naitanui and STM columnist Brittany Bown, Channel 7 presenters Susannah Carr and Matt Tinney, creative Jarrad Seng, western suburbs real estate personality Vivien Yap, and Dr Johannes Yap.
