CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. — Parkston/Ethan/Hanson/Mount Vernon gymnastics showcased its depth in winning the team title at the seven-team Champions for a Cause Invitational on Saturday.

The Royals posted a score of 135.350 to secure first place, while Chamberlain was second with 129.400, Wagner/Bon Homme was third (119.150), Vermillion was fourth (118.350) and Hot Springs finished in fifth (117.450) to tally the top-five teams.

The top all-around honors went to Chamberlain’s Kylah Biggins, who scored a four-event total of 35.700, topping PEHMV’s Addison Duba, who was second with a mark of 35.050. Vermillion’s Nevaeh Smith took third with 34.000 and the Royals claimed the fourth and fifth spots in the all-around with Claire Sommer (33.350) and Lily Bahmuller (32.600).

Biggins took the top spot on vault with a score of 9.100, followed closely by Duba at 9.000. Bahmuller added a mark of 8.700 for the Royals to finish third in the event rankings.

Both Biggins and Duba posted scores of 8.700 on uneven bars, tying for the event title. Sommer followed in third with an 8.250. Biggins and Duba also shared the floor exercise title honors, both scoring 9.450 points, while Vermillion’s Caitlyn Reins was third with an 8.900 routine.

The Tanagers’ Smith delivered the highest score of the day on the balance beam with an 8.850. Biggins took second with an 8.450, while Kimball/White Lake’s Alli McCord placed third with an 8.400.

Chamberlain, PEHMV and Wagner/Bon Homme are all back in Chamberlain on Jan. 5 for a triangular. KWL is next in action on Jan. 9 for a dual meet at Vermillion.
