Progressive house titan Eric Prydz is all set to kickstart one more label! ‘Heavy’ is rumored to be the first offering on his brand new label Lycka Recordings that should mark its arrival amongst the prominent labels run by the Swede. Lycka Recording was first announced by Prydz in April on the 27th installment of his popular EPIC Radio. The label is intended to be a playground to release the more vibrant Eric Prydz sound that was lacking all these years. October 2026 might be the appropriate time to actually witness it taking shape.
The Indicator
A preview link for ‘Heavy’ temporarily popped up on Apple Music before being eventually taken down. It indicated a track that was rumored to be the first release on Lycka Recordings amongst Prydaholics. It listed a release date of October 30th. The track initially made an appearance as the introductory piece on the 26th episode of EPIC Radio before acting as the opening track of Eric’s Ultra Miami 2026 set. EPIC Radio is the radio show run by the legend in phases, in March this year. A massive dose of vocals, unusual for an Eric Prydz track, at least in recent memory, gave signs that something unusually different from Pryda Recordings was coming.
Why Another Label?
It is a universal fact that Eric Prydz’ sound bank of different genres has a stable of its own all these years run by the man himself. The deep, melodic progressive house releases with the classic Pryda twist have a home called Pryda Recordings. Pryda is also the alias he uses to showcase this category of his work. The legend’s own distinguished take on techno under the Cirez D alias has always been displayed under his label called Mouseville. The Eric Prydz releases were always dependent on labels that did not belong to him. The last Eric Prydz release, NOPUS, saw the light of day under the Ministry of Sound label. Even the only Eric Prydz album, OPUS, found its home on Virgin Records.
Here’s hoping ‘Heavy’ changes the earlier trend for the dance music legend’s minimal vocal approach in his creations at a home that Prydz gatekeeps for himself.
