Meghan Markle has got into hot water after appearing on a cooking show in Australia which featured a FaceTime call between her and Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, appeared on the popular Down Under version of the culinary series where aspiring chefs compete to be crowned the best in the kitchen in front of a panel of judges and a celebrity guest.
Meghan, whose brand As everfeatures a range of cooking ideas and products, surprised competitors with her appearance on Sunday’s episode, which also featured an apparent impromptu FaceTime call with her husband Prince Harry, 41. But some viewers were not convinced by the video call, which started by a crew member passing Meghan a phone and telling her “we had a phone call to the studio”. The mum-of-two initially seemed unsure about the disruption before recognising Harry on the screen, she then beamed and addressed him saying, “Hi, my love!”, before he replied “G’day”. The pair then engaged in light-hearted chitchat much to the delight of the studio audience. Some viewers also enjoyed the skit, with one person writing on X, “Wow, these two are so in love”.
But speaking to The News International, celebrity chef Jameson Stocks, slammed the call for having “no authenticity” and added it was: “Just something cold, calculated, and pathetic.” Clearly not a fan of the routine, Mr Stocks, ranks one of the world’s best chefs by GQ magazine, said the royal appearance seemed to jar with the Meghan’s calls for privacy. He noted: “She may call for privacy one day, yet the following day appear with her children for photo opportunities. She needs to get a grip.”
