Chrissy Teigen announced the unexpected death of her father in an emotional social media post.
Teigen’s husband, John Legend, paid tribute to his father-in-law: “We love you so much, Papa Ron.”

Chrissy Teigen revealed the death of her father, Ron, in an emotional announcement.
“Yesterday I woke up with a daddy and went to bed without one,” Teigen, 40, wrote late Wednesday night via Instagram in a tribute post that included video footage of her late dad.
She continued, “All the same things happened. Hurried shower. Picked up stuffing from the dog toys. Answered some emails. Avoided some. Laughed with my friends and put on a pretty dress for a friend’s birthday. Took a video. How cute is this dress! And then my dad just like…f—ing died.”
Teigen was surprised by her reaction to the news. “I thought that since we talk about it and I’ve come to terms with him always having been an ‘old dad’ that I wouldn’t have fallen to the ground the way I did.”
“I’ve thought about this phone call for years. I’ll be ready,” she estimated. “A couple months ago I was able to go away for a week. I wrote my dad a letter about how grateful I was for him. About how hard he worked for us growing up and how much I love him. I am forever grateful for the moment I handed him the letter, and all our years before.”
She went on to make a few comical recollections about her dad’s temperament, telling her followers that he “hated nearly everything in the world that wasn’t a bass guitar, swing dancing, wood carving, animals, YouTube, or his family,” and that she has “hundreds of videos of him just being mad at things he isn’t even doing, watching, or eating” that make her “so happy now” to revisit.
“God I love you so much. I will talk to you every night. Thank you for being such a great dad. Until we complain again,” Teigen finished at the end of the post.
In the comments section, her husband, Grammy winner John Legend, paid tribute to his father-in-law’s memory.
“We love you so much Papa Ron,” Legend, 47, wrote, going on to reference Ron’s relationship with the couple’s four children. “I’m so glad you got to spend so much time with your grandbabies. I loved seeing you beam with pride at the beautiful family you helped create.”
Other stars also commented their condolences underneath Teigen’s post.

“Oh Chrissy…I’m sending you so much love,” wrote Jenna Dewan, while Jennifer Love Hewitt added, “This hurts I know. I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending love and healing.”
Former The View cohost Debbie Matenopoulos also commented, telling Teigen, “I am SO sorry Chrissy. I know that pain all too well. He is now with you by your side every moment of the day smiling over you. May his memory be eternal.”
