Ariana Grande appeared to be angry after the White House used her song in an ICE video on TikTok. On June 9, the social media page of Donald Trump’s residence and workplace posted a clip. In it, officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other agencies were seen arresting people. The caption read, “Bye-bye[!] President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history.”
Furthermore, the background score was Grande’s 2024 track, “Bye,” from the “Eternal Sunshine” album. On Thursday, the pop star might have come across the post. She replied in the comment section and seemed furious. “Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. fck ice,” the 32-year-old wrote. Since her response, the song has been muted on the clip.
This was not the first time that Trump’s administration seemingly promoted ICE arrests. Last December, the White House released a similar video using Sabrina Carpenter’s song, “Juno,” from her Grammy-winning album, “Short n’ Sweet.” Referring to the lyrics, the post’s caption read, “Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye.”
To this, the singer commented, “This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.” Furthermore, the feud escalated after White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson defended the content.
