According to the announcement, guests will have an opportunity to tour the facility, meet staff members and learn more about the center’s services.

While many fans know Sorrentino for his reality TV fame, his visit to the Charlotte area is tied to a different chapter of his life, centered on addiction recovery and helping others find sobriety.

From ‘Jersey Shore’ fame to addiction struggles

Sorrentino became a household name in 2009 when MTV’s “Jersey Shore” debuted, catapulting him and his castmates into fame. Known for his abs, catchphrases and larger-than-life personality, he quickly became one of the show’s most recognizable figures.

But behind the scenes, Sorrentino was battling addiction.

Over the years, he has spoken publicly about becoming dependent on prescription painkillers after receiving medication following injuries. He also spent an estimated $500,000 on oxycodone and cocaine during that time, Entertainment Tonight reported.

In interviews, Sorrentino has described reaching a point where he realized he needed help. He entered treatment and began what would become a long-term recovery journey.

The reality star celebrated 10 years of sobriety in December, Us Weekly reported.

“Sobriety gave me my life back,” Sorrentino wrote on Instagram. “It gave me clarity, purpose, faith, family, and a mission bigger than myself. It gave me the ability to turn my darkest chapters into a platform of hope for others who are still struggling.”

A new mission focused on recovery

Sorrentino is the founder of Archangel Centers, an addiction treatment organization that provides services for individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders.

His involvement with the organization reflects a mission he has embraced in recent years: helping people find hope after addiction.

“By using his platform and influence, Mike helps spread messages of experience, strength, and hope across rehabilitation centers, colleges, and high schools nationwide,” the organization’s website reads.

The Matthews grand opening marks the organization’s expansion into North Carolina and will give local residents an opportunity to meet Sorrentino while learning more about treatment and recovery resources available in the area.
