Hamilton returns to Louisville with $10 ticket lottery

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Tony Award-winning musical “Hamilton” returns to the Kentucky Center in Louisville later this month, and fans can enter a digital lottery for $10 tickets.

PNC Broadway in Louisville announced the lottery for the show’s run, which begins Tuesday, June 30. A limited number of tickets will be available for each performance.

The first lottery opens at 10 a.m. Friday and closes at noon Thursday, June 25, for performances scheduled June 30 through July 5. After that, lotteries will open each Friday and close the following Thursday for the next week’s performances.

People can enter through the official “Hamilton” app, which is available on iOS and Android devices. Winners will be notified by email and mobile push notification between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each Thursday and will have two hours to claim and pay for tickets.

Each winner may buy up to two tickets. No purchase is necessary to enter, and only one entry per person will be accepted.

Lottery tickets can be picked up at will call beginning two hours before the performance with a valid photo ID. The tickets can’t be transferred or resold.

Fans must be 18 or older to take part in the lottery and must have a valid, unexpired photo ID matching the name used to enter.

Tickets for “Hamilton” are already on sale and can be bought online.

The musical tells the story of Alexander Hamilton and features book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of the Founding Father and blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway music.

“Hamilton” has won 11 Tony Awards, as well as Grammy and Olivier awards and the Pulitzer Prize for drama.
