The Kansas City Royals signed veteran left-hander Matt Moore to a minor-league deal Saturday.
Moore last pitched in the majors for the Los Angeles Angels in 2024. He signed a minor-league deal with the Boston Red Sox last season before being released in April.
Moore, who turned 37 on Thursday, has a 71-66 record and 4.39 ERA in 369 appearances (164 starts) in 13 seasons with eight teams. He made his major league debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011 and was an All-Star in 2013 when he went a career-best 17-4 with a 3.29 ERA.
Moore was a starter for most of his career but hasn’t served in that role since being with the Philadelphia Phillies (13 starts in 2021). He had five of his six career saves with the Texas Rangers in 2022 when he had a 1.95 ERA in 63 appearances.
