Looks like there’s drama behind the scenes of The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Movie.
Due to the cast filming in public settings, privacy on set has been…hard to come by—and now The Sun reports that things are so bad, entire scenes have been “scrapped” mid-shoot.
“It’s been an around-the-clock clusterf**k behind the scenes of shooting this movie,” a source says. “The actors are getting more and more frustrated and stressed out.”
Apparently, production didn’t block off enough streets surrounding the set before filming began, with the source confirming “Certain streets were not blocked off ahead of time like they typically are for larger scale projects. There weren’t enough production assistants hired to manage the crowd and escort the actors around more discretely, so the talent feels they’ve been thrown to the wolves in a lot of these situations.”
They add, “This is also angering Amazon execs because they are banking on this film being a huge hit and they don’t understand why production didn’t manage the budget better to prevent these issues. So many unexpected roadblocks that could have been prevented with proper planning. The production managers made amateur mistakes and didn’t accurately prepare for the scope of this project.”
TSITP production has tried to prevent fans from crashing the set, even releasing a statement saying “We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew. We’re working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it’s ready to be shared.”
It doesn’t seem to have worked, and fans have managed to capture some very spoiler-y moments from the upcoming film, ahem:
