Hollywood has always created trends which many industries across the globe has followed and replicated and emulated. Fashion is one of them. There’s a new trend that has gone viral on social media, with stars like Pamela Anderson and Margot Robbie making it popular. It’s called The Bare Nails Trend.
What’s the new viral trend?
The trend caught fire when Pamela Anderson made an appearance with her nude nails at the Golden Globe Awards 2026.
At the Critics Choice Awards, celebrities like Rosamund Pike and Margot Robbie made their red-carpet appearances with bare nails. At the Oscars and the Met Gala red carpet, many stars were seen carrying the trend forward.
Beauty analysts say ultra clean natural nails, short manicures, and soft nude shades are now being associated with expensive skincare culture, old money aesthetics, wellness, and understated wealth. The trend exploded after people noticed more luxury fashion campaigns and celebrity appearances featuring almost invisible manicures instead of flashy designs.
Journalist & Beauty Expert Kristina Rodulfo explains the trend
Sharing a video on her Instagram, Rodulfo said, “What I see is a glaring lack of intersectionality. It’s harmful to conflate naked nails with better taste or class, which are often just euphemisms for white supremacist beauty standards.”
She added, “I love a perfectly manicured naked manicure while I also adore a full set with a design. However let’s not ignore the very purposeful and dangerous connotations of attributing bare “clean girl” nails to “high status”. While this may appear to be a light and silly beauty debate, ask yourself who is included within that bracket and who is intentionally excluded! Let’s be clear, it’s racism.”
