Jazz Fest, Pride Fest highlight busy weekend in Saratoga County – Saratogian

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y — Summer is in full swing, and looking ahead to this weekend, there will be plenty to do throughout the area.

On Saturday, Saratoga Farmers Market is going to be dedicating their day to all things Strawberry — holding the “Strawberry Jam” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., complete with strawberry-inspired treats, family activities and live entertainment. There will be free strawberry shortcake, while supplies last as well as kids activities such as a Strawberry Adventure Course and a strawberry-themed craft.

Attendees will also be able to enter to win a Strawberry Raffle Basket, packed with berry-themed goodies.

Putnam place will be holding a “Turn It Up for Suicide Prevention” live music fundraiser from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday featuring three local bands. The event aims to bring the community together through music and connection all to raise money for the American Suicide Prevention Foundation, with all ages welcome. A small donation at the door as well as raffle baskets will be featured.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Mini City will be holding their 10th Annual Big Bubble Party in Congress Park, near the carousel. This family friendly event is free to attend, and will offer a variety of activities and giveaways as local families gather to celebrate the “unofficial start of summer vacation.”

The annual Saratoga Jazz Festival presented by GE Vernova will also be taking place this weekend, featuring two days of performances headlined by R&B legend and “Godmother of Soul” Patti LaBelle on Saturday and the New Orleans rock collective known for their triple-platinum hit “Wish I Knew You,” The Revivalists on Sunday.

Serving as the 49th annual event, between the two stages the weekend will include performances by 22 artists across the two stages, 13 of which will be festival debuts.

Along with the music, the festival will feature craft beer, a local food vendor village, a fine arts and crafts fair, family fun and more. Performances start at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 11:45 a.m. on Sunday. For additional information, including the full lineup, and to buy tickets, visit spac.org.

On Sunday, Sustainable Saratoga will hold a Malta Repair Café from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Innovation Center, located at 16 Old Stonebreak Road in Malta. No reservation needed, with the community being invited to bring anything – from wobbly chairs, favorite lamps, torn clothing to even a beloved stuffed animal. This free repair cafe will feature volunteer repair coaches that will help attendees mend everything from electronics and jewelry to textiles and small appliances.

From 1 p.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Saratoga Pride will be holding their annual Saratoga Pride Festival at High Rock Park in Saratoga Springs. The event will feature a lineup of talent — including drag performances, live music, DJ, as well as local food trucks and lots of community vendors and services.

Attendees are encouraged to show off their rainbow colors and celebrate PRIDE, with all welcome to come out and enjoy the event. Following the festival, at 5 p.m., there will be an Pride Festival After Party at Whitman Brewing Company.
