Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson music biopic Michael remained atop the Official Film chart, the weekly U.K. home entertainment sales chart through June 24 following its digital retail release on June 9.
Starring the late singer’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role, the movie generated $935 billion at the global box office, including $363.5 million across North American screens.
Amazon MGM Studios’ former chart topper Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling as a lone astronaut on a mission to save humanity, remained No. 2 in its sixth week on the chart.
Neon’s Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert, the cinematic portrait of the rock ‘n roll legend from Elvis director Baz Luhrmann, returned to the chart at No. 3 in its sixth week of release.
Disney-owned 20th Century Studios’ Avatar: Fire and Ash moved up one spot to No. 4 in its 12th week on the chart, followed by Warner’s Mortal Kombat II at No. 5 in its second week on the chart.
The action adventure starring Adeline Rudolph, Karl Urban, Martyn Ford and Tati Gabrielle, generated almost $129 million at the global box office, including $79.5 million across North American screens.
Vertical Entertainment’s live-action fantasy The Magic Faraway Tree, based on Enid Blyton’s The Faraway Tree book series, bowed No. 6 on the chart. Starring Nonso Anozie, Sonny Meo, Andrew Garfield, and Claire Foy, the movie is set for theatrical release in the U.S. on Aug. 21.
Signature Entertainment’s dark British comedy-thriller The Good Boy, starring Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough and Anson Boon, ranked No. 7, up 11 spots in its sixth week on the chart.
Paramount’s Scream 7 dropped five spots to No. 8 in its seventh week on the sales chart, followed by Universal’s former chart topper The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, down three spots to No. 9 in its fifth week on the chart.
Finally, Universal’s Wicked: For Good leapfrogged 17 spots to No. 10 in its 25th week on the chart.
