Rob Lowe is trying to make “hot grandpa” happen — but he’s not quite sure it’ll catch on.
The Parks and Recreation alum, 62, appeared on a Wednesday, June 24 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show and was asked if he’s angling for grandkids after his son Matthew got engaged last July. In addition to Matthew, Lowe is dad to son John, both of whom he shares with wife Sheryl Berkoff.
“I’m not even pretending otherwise,” joked Lowe. “I want to do all the things that I did with those little guys. Here’s the thing, but I’m not looking forward to being called grandpa.”

Host Kelly Clarkson, 44, then asked Lowe what he’d prefer to be called. The actor said that being a grandpa isn’t “on brand” for him.
“You could make grandpa hot,” said Clarkson. “You could make grandpa hot. I feel like Rob Lowe can do it.”
“I don’t know,” responded Lowe, shaking his head. “We need a name.”
“What’s your name? What are you going to go by?” asked the “Since U Been Gone” singer.

“I’m crowdsourcing it. So if anybody has any ideas, I’m open to them,” said Lowe. “My grandma was Mim, which was super sweet, so it doesn’t have to be like, ‘Grandpa, like, old man,’ right?”
Clarkson then asked Lowe if becoming a grandfather was tied to feeling old for him.
“To me, yes. 100%, I just go, that’s it. Listen, I’ve been on the cover of AARP twice. It’s over,” teased Lowe. “It’s over. I’m out.”
