The ten-day festival brings together local authors, poets, performers, historians, musicians and community groups, offering something for all ages and interests.
From writing workshops and author talks to puppet theatre, poetry performances, music, book fairs and family activities, Wolds Events aims to showcase the rich creative talent of the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The festival opens on Thursday 3 July with a Poetry Open Mic Night at Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre, followed by an evening exploring the remarkable migration of swifts with the Caistor Swift Group.
Councillor Stephen Bunney, ward member for Market Rasen said: “The Wolds Word Fest is a fantastic example of how culture, creativity and community can come together to celebrate everything that makes our area special. The festival showcases the incredible talent we have here in the Wolds while also bringing people together to enjoy literature, music, history, nature and the arts.
“As someone who lives in the area, I know how important events like this are in creating opportunities for residents and visitors alike to connect with local places, businesses and communities. The programme offers something for all ages, from family activities and storytelling to author talks and live performances.
“I am particularly pleased to see events taking place across Caistor, Market Rasen and Tealby, helping people discover more of what our market towns and villages have to offer. I would encourage everyone to take a look at the programme and support what promises to be an enjoyable and inspiring ten days.”
Family highlights include Barmpot Theatre’s enchanting puppet show To The Moon & Back, the launch of the Summer Reading Challenge with The Little Owls Bookshop, a new Ice Spy Trail, and the popular Wonderland Bookish Craft Club ahead of Caistor Goes to Wonderland.
Book lovers can enjoy a range of talks and workshops throughout the festival, including sessions with local authors Andrew Harris and USA Today bestselling crime writer Jack Cartwright, as well as creative writing workshops led by Gillian Poucher.
Other highlights include local history performances, poetry events, book fairs featuring Lincolnshire authors, a Silent Book Club, and an evening of live folk music from Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen.
The festival concludes on Sunday 12 July with Caistor Goes to Wonderland, a vibrant day of food, music, entertainment and family fun inspired by Lewis Carroll’s beloved classic.
Cara Thornhill, Head of Leisure and Cultural Services at the council said: “Wolds Word Fest celebrates the stories, creativity and communities that make the Lincolnshire Wolds such a special place. We are delighted to bring together authors, performers, community groups and audiences for ten days of inspiring and entertaining events. Whether you’re an avid reader, a budding writer, a music lover or simply looking for something different to enjoy with family and friends, there’s something for everyone so please share the news and come along and support this fabulous event.”
