Both officers told Variety they got a warning about a “possible influx of Taylor Swift fans,” paparazzi, and curious onlookers. They added that the rumored event has become a regular topic of conversation within the department.
The concern is understandable. Madison Square Garden sits in one of the busiest parts of Manhattan. It is located above Penn Station, one of New York City’s biggest transportation hubs. Even on a normal day, the area sees heavy pedestrian traffic. If thousands of Swifties show up, the crowds could become difficult to manage.
Officers have already dealt with several major events in recent weeks. The area has hosted New York Knicks games, concerts, and increased commuter traffic linked to FIFA World Cup events. Per the report, another large gathering would add to an already packed schedule for law enforcement.

Meanwhile, reports have also claimed that security has increased around Swift’s Rhode Island home. Friends and family have allegedly been arriving there discreetly in recent days.
