The secrecy surrounding the Taylor Swift wedding has been a little weird because if she and Travis Kelce are really getting married at Madison Square Garden, that’s not something you can keep quiet. And even if they indeed have a ceremony somewhere else and only a celebration at MSG, the venue and the July 4th weekend aren’t exactly compatible with secrecy.
But reports indicate the singer has done a lot to try to keep the details under wraps. That includes not even telling guests the full information about the wedding, with people invited reportedly instructed to arrive in New York, without being given details about when and where the wedding will be. And Hollywood insider Rob Shuter reports that not everyone is happy about the lengths she’s gone to keep her wedding private.

“It’s a wedding, not a Middle East peace summit,” a source told Naughty But Nice. “People have kids, jobs, businesses, and travel plans. They’re being asked to block off two full days and just wait for instructions. Guests are frustrated.”
Though, to be fair, it seems kind of fitting for what’s been billed as the “wedding of the century.”
“Taylor and Travis are taking the secrecy too far,” another insider said. “Everyone understands wanting privacy, but at some point it starts feeling like they don’t trust the very people they’re inviting.”
Probably on par for the course for a wedding set to have over 1,000 guests. You can’t trust that many people, can you?
All of this comes after RadarOnline reported on the security protocols in place for the event. Michael Evanoff, former U.S. Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Diplomatic Security at the U.S. Department of State and Global CSO at Verkada, talked to the outlets about how to approach security for an event this large.
“An event of this magnitude doesn’t get planned like a wedding – it gets planned like the NATO summit or a state visit. While most weddings are planned around the guest experience, this one will be planned around the threat assessment,” he said.
That actually explains the secrecy, particularly considering the guest list is so large. “The smaller and more controlled the list, the smaller the attack surface,” Evanoff said. But with such a big guest list, every guest becomes “a security variable.”
“You will see strict credentialing, device protocols, and restricted plus-one policies because every additional person is an additional access point with the potential for an information leak.”
Ironically, even Travis Kelce’s dad is reportedly being kept in the dark about wedding-related issues. Sources told the Daily Mail that Kelce’s dad isn’t being told details because he “can’t be trusted” to keep a secret.
“He’s sort of like a loose cannon,” one source said. “Nobody knows what he’s going to say, so it’s kind of a controversial situation.”
We likely won’t know any details ahead of time, but with the wedding rapidly approaching, soon we’ll know all there is to know about how and when Swift and Kelce end up tying the knot.
