Liann May is defending her daughter Taylor Frankie Paul — and calling out the reality star’s exes as she faces two custody battles.
“Both dads know 100 [percent] damn right that Taylor’s a GREAT mother!” Liann wrote via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, June 30, hours after news broke that Taylor’s ex-husband, Tate Paul, filed for a restraining order and requested sole custody of their two children.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star shares daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 6, with Tate, whom she was married to from 2016 to 2022.
Liann claimed, “Trying to keep them away from her is only going to hurt my grandbabies! They LOVE their mommy more than anyone or anything in this world & they both know it!”
While Liann’s comments are seemingly a response to Tate’s legal action, she also appeared to put Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen on blast amid their own legal battle. (Taylor also shares son Ever, 2, with Dakota, 33, whom she had an on-again, off-again relationship with for years.)
Us Weekly has reached out to attorneys for Tate and Dakota for comment.

Taylor and Tate notably split after being involved in a “soft swinging” scandal that was a controversial topic on SLOMW. Taylor later revealed that she broke her and Tate’s rules by sleeping with another man.
While Taylor and Tate’s marriage came to an end shortly before she publicly confessed to their “soft swinging” ways in 2022, she exclusively told Us earlier this year that they were cordial as they coparented their two children in Utah.
“I just respect his privacy a lot, and I know that’s what he likes,” Taylor said in her March cover story. “But he and I have always been really good friends and [have a] very healthy coparenting relationship.”
Less than four months later, the exes’ dynamic has seemingly taken a turn for the worse.

Us confirmed on Tuesday that Tate filed a motion for a temporary restraining order against his ex-wife. According to documents viewed by Us, a hearing has been requested in a Utah court to sort out the motion.
Tate also filed a petition to modify the terms of his and Taylor’s divorce and custody agreement, with TMZ reporting that he is requesting sole custody of both Indy and Ocean.
Tate’s legal actions transpired just days after Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Dakota, with whom she is entangled in a custody dispute, called the Bluffdale Police Department with questions about their protective order.

The Bluffdale Police Department confirmed to Us on Monday, June 29, that Dakota had called the authorities at around 10 p.m. on June 26.
Dakota inquired about the protective order that he and Taylor have regarding their son Ever’s visitation, specifically about who can help with drop-off and pick-up arrangements, per the police. Dakota has asked whether the protective order had been violated.
The officers told Us that they made contact with Taylor via a phone call and gathered statements from all involved before sending the case to the District Attorney’s office to decide if there’s been a violation.

Dakota’s call to the police comes just months after his and Taylor’s relationship woes were thrust into the spotlight following a domestic violence dispute in late February. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Dakota claimed that Taylor choked him and shoved him into a window.
He further alleged that Taylor was “emotionally volatile” and he was fearful for the safety of their son. Taylor has denied the allegations of child abuse.
In March, Dakota was granted temporary custody of Ever as well as a temporary restraining order against Taylor.
Taylor, for her part, was granted a protective order against Dakota after claiming that he assaulted her in his truck.

A judge ruled in April that the exes have to stay at least 100 feet away from each other and Taylor would have supervised visitation of Ever.
Earlier this month, a judge ruled that Taylor no longer needed supervised visitation while spending time with her and Dakota’s child. The judge also allowed Taylor to have her son on alternate weekends and one midweek day as long as the child does not spend the night.
Amid all the drama, a source told Us on Wednesday, July 1, that Taylor recently voluntarily checked into a rehab facility that provides mental health treatment, on the recommendation of her doctor.
“She is focused on doing the work with her mental health professionals and checked in for a voluntary stay,” the insider shared. “She has since been cleared and departed. Her priority remains doing the work on her mental health and being a good mom.”
