Kansas City Royals duo set for 2026 All-Star Futures Game

The Kansas City Royals will be well represented in the 2026 All-Star Futures Game.

On Wednesday, Major League Baseball revealed the exhibition rosters. Royals top prospects Blake Mitchell and Kendry Chourio will play for the American League on July 12 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Chourio, 18, is the No. 1 prospect in the Royals’ minor-league system. He is on a meteoric rise after being acquired during the 2025 international signing period.

Last season, Chourio started in the Dominican Summer League before ending the year with Single-A Columbia. Along the way, he dominated opponents with a 3.51 ERA across three minor-league levels.

Chourio features an upper-90s fastball, a sharp curveball and a kick-changeup. He also has a polished delivery and the makeup to be a frontline starter.

In recent weeks, Chourio has reached High-A Quad Cities. He will get a chance to team with Mitchell for the remainder of the year.

The promotion was well received in the organization. Chourio has already made two High-A starts and posted 14 strikeouts and two walks in 10 ⅔ innings.

Mitchell is the Royals’ No. 3 prospect. He has shown more consistent production after being selected in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft. This season, Mitchell is hitting .210 with 13 home runs, 40 RBIs and an .834 OPS (on-base plus slugging).

Both players will get to showcase their skills on the national stage. The 2026 All-Star Futures Game will feature several top prospects around the league.

Fans can watch the action on NBC. The exhibition starts at 11 a.m. Central and will be a seven-inning game. The National League is 4-1-1 since the exhibition’s format was changed in 2019.
