Good Morning Britain hosts Ranvir Singh and Adil Ray discussed a highly sensitive report
The presenters of Good Morning Britain shared some “highly sensitive” news during the latest broadcast.
Ranvir Singh and Adil Ray returned to the ITV studio on Thursday (July 2) to present the latest headlines from throughout the UK and internationally.
Discussion quickly moved to Prince Harry after a security document revealed that the Duke of Sussex faces threats from six terrorist plots, five originating within the UK. This revelation comes just days before Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s scheduled family visit to Britain after four years.
“It’s a highly sensitive document written by the Sussex’s private security firm, and it details these potential attacks that are facing the couple,” Ranvir explained.
Adil continued: “It’s an extraordinary report. It argues that Harry’s own protection officers are prevented from adequately responding to an armed attack in the UK,” reports the Mirror.
The classified risk evaluation was compiled for the prince in February, and was submitted to the RAVEC Committee – the body responsible for determining which prominent politicians and Royal Family members receive Home Office-funded police protection.
ITV’s Royal Editor, Chris Ship, outlined the reported threats in a pre-recorded segment, which referenced an al-Qaeda document calling for the assassination of Prince Harry.
Chris stated: “King Charles, who was in Scotland this week, has not seen his grandchildren since the summer of 2022, but Buckingham Palace says that all issues of security are a matter for the Home Office and the King cannot get involved.”
Back in the studio, Ranvir remarked: “Prince Harry has been under threat from six terrorist plots.”
Adil revealed: “The Sussexes are due to arrive in the UK to mark the countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, but reports now claim Meghan and the children may stay in California after Harry’s request for police protection during their trip was denied.”
Addressing Chris, who had joined them live in the studio, Adil then asked: “This is extraordinary. You’ve seen this report. How alarmed were you? You’ve been following the royals, you’ll know a little bit about the sort of security that they would expect. How alarmed were you about these threats?”
Chris responded: “Do you know what, I’ve heard Harry talk about the threats before, but actually, to see them in detail in the way that we now have is actually quite something.”
He went on: “Harry was promised a review of his security and one hasn’t happened. Now, he says, ‘Why hasn’t one happened? Look at this report. Look at all the threats on there.’
“When people say, ‘You left the Royal Family, you don’t deserve to have any public funded protection,’ his argument is, ‘This is what happens when I’m in the UK.’ And in other parts of the world, for example, I was with Harry in Ukraine not so long ago, he gets the full protection of President Zelensky’s office.
“But when he’s in the UK, he’s been told next week when he comes here, he gets the phone number of a police liaison officer… You can’t really square that circle very well.”
