Dolly Parton is feeling desperately lonely and more vulnerable than ever as she tries to recover from her ongoing health issues, sources tell Examiner.
“It was a huge deal for Dolly to go out and greet fans last week,” an insider says of the country music legend’s recent surprise appearance at her Tennessee truck stop grand opening. “But she has been told in no uncertain terms that these outings are generally not a good idea until she’s back at 100 percent, which will be many months from now if she’s lucky.”
Which means, Parton, 80, is “stuck at home for the foreseeable future,” the insider notes, “whether she likes it or not.”
The “Jolene” singer owns a sprawling 23-room ranch in Brentwood, Tennessee ranch that sits on 70 acres and has a tennis court and a swimming pool, per Architectural Digest.
“It’s a fabulous property with more luxury and opulence than most people could possibly imagine,” admits the insider. “But for Dolly, it’s akin to a sentence right now. She’s feeling very trapped and [is] desperate to get out and about, visit friends and enjoy a vacation.”

Parton’s home is also chock-full of “reminders” of her late husband Carl Dean, who passed away last March at the age of 82.
“She feels Carl’s spirit there 24/7 … and she’s unable to deal with the bereavement by keeping busy,” says the insider. “Friends and family come and go most days, but it doesn’t really cheer her up.”
Plus, “she’s had to employ bodyguards to sit at the property non-stop and watch over in case any nut jobs try to break in,” the insider adds. “It’s all too much and not a happy time for Dolly right now, to say the very least.”
