Brandon Aiyuk has issued yet another warning to the San Francisco 49ers, again without mentioning the team by name.
Aiyuk posted a video to his Instagram story on Thursday, July 2 that showed a slow, zoom in on his face over saxophone music that grew in volume. The music was a reference to the score from a scene from the 1991 movie “Boyz n the Hood,” during which one of the characters, Ricky, is shot to death.

Aiyuk’s message was simple, even despite his non-verbal delivery: the saxophones are getting louder, and a bad turn could be coming if his saga with the 49ers isn’t soon resolved.
Aiyuk seemingly isn’t going to stay quiet as he awaits the 49ers moving on from him, as general manager John Lynch said they would during a news conference at the end of the 2025 NFL season.
Aiyuk has become increasingly vocal about his desire to leave the 49ers in recent weeks. He has criticized Lynch and Kyle Shanahan across a series of Instagram posts while referring to the team as “stupid” and expressing his desire to join the Washington Commanders.
Aiyuk continued to lobby for a union with the Commanders with a couple of posts to his Instagram story. The first was a dance accompanied by the following caption:

“Mood cuz Im gone be a Commander soon,” Aiyuk wrote.
Shortly thereafter, Aiyuk posted a video of Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, with whom he has a strong relationship from their team time together at Arizona State.
Despite Aiyuk’s desires to join the Commanders, he won’t be able to do so until the 49ers eventually trade or release him.
San Francisco hasn’t yet gotten a nibble for a trade, nor has it shown a willingness to cut Aiyuk. So, until the 49ers make a decision about his future, Aiyuk will remain in purgatory.
But as the 28-year-old receiver has made clear with his social media posts, he isn’t afraid to express his displeasure about that.
