On Saturday, July 4, it was reported that Kate Middleton and Prince William had secretly met with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce a little over a month before the latter couple’s massive wedding at Madison Square Garden.
The pop star and NFL player visited London together in May, and People confirmed that the group shared a private meeting during the visit. It was likely the time when Prince William discussed appearing on an episode of New Heights, the podcast hosted by Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce.
Released just hours before the MSG ceremony, the Prince of Wales talked with Travis about the famous photo of them together with Swift, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, taken in 2024 at Wembley Stadium during one of the musician’s The Eras Tour shows.
“One of the coolest moments ever was meeting you and the little ones that day,” said Travis. “Me and Jason joke about it all the time. We were so nervous to meet you guys and the royal family.”
While Kate and William were ultimately not at the wedding, he did joke during a radio interview that he’d be open to going. When asked if he’d received an invite, William answered, “no comment,” before adding, “I’m hoping, and I’m sure there might be an invitation around, but we’ll see.”
Despite the absence, Swift and Prince William are obviously friends. They met in 2013 after she performed at a gala for Centrepoint, a charity organization supported by the prince.
