On Wednesday, Nov. 5, viewers were introduced to Mitchell, 39, of Valdosta, Ga. She started her episode with limited mobility and needing to rely on her teenage daughter, Dakota, to do most of the household upkeep and chores.
Yolanda began her weight-loss journey not knowing her weight, as she hadn’t stepped on a scale in a while. But she wanted to get healthy so she could be a more active mother for her kids.

At her first weigh-in at the office of bariatric surgeon Dr. Charles Procter, Mitchell tipped the scale at 502 pounds. He gave her a goal of losing 40 pounds in two months. After hard work on her diet and exercise, Mitchell weighed 460 pounds at her follow-up visit, qualifying for weight-loss surgery.
Eleven Months later, Mitchell revealed her jaw-dropping transformation to friends and family, and they could hardly believe they were looking at the same person.

At the end of her Dangerously Obese episode, Mitchell weighed 338 pounds, and her goal weight was 160 pounds. Her boyfriend, Kevin, also proposed—and she said yes!
Mitchell did not appear to have any public social media profiles on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok. As of writing, it’s unclear whether she has continued to progress in her weight loss journey. Hopefully, TLC catches up with her and offers an update in the future!
