Silo is a hit sci-fi thriller on Apple TV that has just returned for its third season – let’s take a look at who’s joining the cast
Apple TV’s acclaimed science fiction mystery drama Silo has at last returned for its third series today (Friday, 3 July) following a break of over a year.
Set in a bleak dystopian future, the popular series adapted from Hugh Howey’s novels centres on the residents of an enormous subterranean shelter housing 10,000 people, protecting them from the poisonous external environment.
Mission: Impossible star Rebecca Ferguson leads the thriller as Juliette Nichols, an engineer who starts to discover an extensive conspiracy at the core of the Silo after a series of unexplained deaths.
As the compelling, gradually developing investigation progresses, the disturbing reality behind this peculiar world’s sinister past emerges, reports the Mirror.
With Series 3 commencing this week and running for 10 episodes until 4 September, let’s examine the new and returning cast members.
Who stars in Silo Series 3?
Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette Nichols
The Swedish Hollywood star heads the series as engineer Juliette Nichols, who oversees the generators on the Silo’s deepest levels.
Ferguson’s recent roles include the Netflix films A House of Dynamite and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, and she is also renowned for playing Ilsa Faust in the Mission: Impossible franchise and Lady Jessica in the Dune films.
Common as Robert Sims
Rapper and actor Common plays Robert Sims, who serves as head of security for the Silo’s law enforcement, known as Judicial. Beyond his Grammy-winning musical achievements, Common has featured in notable films including John Wick: Chapter 2 and The Hate U Give, as well as the hit Netflix romantic drama Never Have I Ever.
Tim Robbins as Bernard Holland
Bernard is the Silo’s authoritarian head of IT, portrayed by actor Tim Robbins.
Throughout his distinguished career, Robbins has featured in numerous major Hollywood productions, with his most celebrated performances including Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption, Griffin Mill in The Player and his Academy Award-winning portrayal of Dave Boyle in Mystic River.
Harriet Walter as Martha Walker
British icon Harriet Walter takes on the role of Martha Walker, the agoraphobic electrical engineer who serves as a maternal figure to Juliette.
Beyond her extensive theatrical work, Walter has featured in various high-profile dramas including Downton Abbey, Succession, Killing Eve and The Crown.

Avi Nash as Lukas Kyle
American performer Avi Nash plays systems analyst Lukas Kyle. Television audiences will likely recognise him from his recurring part as Siddiq in The Walking Dead.
His credits also include the Black Mirror instalment Joan is Awful, and he recently appeared in ITV’s espionage thriller Secret Service as part of the main ensemble.
Rick Gomez as Patrick Kennedy
Rick Gomez portrays maintenance worker and contraband dealer Patrick Kennedy. Gomez works across both voice acting and on-screen performance, having contributed his voice to the Final Fantasy series and the video game Batman: Arkham Shadow.
He has also featured in the 2007 Transformers film, the critically praised miniseries Band of Brothers and popular drama Justified.
Chinaza Uche as Paul Billings
Paul Billings is a former Judicial administrator who becomes the Silo’s new chief deputy. Uche has previously featured in another Apple TV success, the period drama Dickinson starring Hailee Steinfeld as poet Emily Dickinson.
The Scottish actor also secured a Scottish BAFTA for his performance in the film A Good Person with Florence Pugh and has recently starred in the third season of AMC’s The Terror, subtitled Devil in Silver.
Shane McRae as Knox
Knox serves as head of the Mechanical level in the Silo and Juliette’s superior. Actor McRae is best known for leading roles in Sneaky Pete, Paradise Lost and Alaska Daily.
Remmie Milner as Shirley Campbell
Remmie Milner is a British actress who portrays Shirley, one of Juliette’s closest friends. Milner has secured roles in major dramas including His Dark Materials, Save Me and A Christmas Carol.
Alexandria Riley as Camille Sims
Camille Sims is a former raider and Robert’s wife. Actress Riley will be familiar to British audiences, having appeared in major hit dramas Baby Reindeer and Death Valley.
Clare Perkins as Carla McLain
Clare Perkins portrays Walker’s former spouse Carla, who oversees the Silo’s supply operations. Perkins featured as Ava Hartman on EastEnders from 2012-2013 and has gained recognition for playing Myrna Okeke in The Outlaws and Kerene Nagashi in Prime Video’s fantasy series The Wheel of Time.
Billy Postlethwaite as Hank
Fellow British actor Billy Postlethwaite takes on the character of Hank, a lower level deputy. The son of renowned actor Pete Postlethwaite, he has previously featured in Chernobyl, The Great and The Winter King.
Steve Zahn as Jimmy Conroy / “Solo”
The White Lotus actor Steve Zahn previously went uncredited for his portrayal of Jimmy, known as Solo, the sole surviving resident of the Silo’s notorious uprising. He’s set to rejoin the production as a principal cast member in Season 3.
Zahn’s credits include notable films such as Dallas Buyers Club, Captain Fantastic and War for the Planet of the Apes, alongside popular series The Righteous Gemstones and Disney+’s Chad Powers.
New cast members for Season 3
Ashley Zukerman as Daniel Keene and Jessica Henwick as Helen Drew
Season 3 welcomes Ashley Zukerman and Jessica Henwick to the principal cast, both having made brief appearances in the Season 2 finale. Helen works as a journalist while Daniel serves as a Congressman, collaborating to unravel elements of the conspiracy that preceded the Silo’s creation.
Zuckerman is recognised for roles in television series Designated Survivor and Succession, as well as Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy. Henwick has featured in major Hollywood productions including Glass Onion, The Matrix Resurrections and Cuckoo, and was most recently seen in Netflix’s Vladimir.
