The Royal Household is recruiting its first dedicated
videographer as it looks to expand the Royal Family’s digital
presence across social media platforms, marking a significant step
in the evolution of royal communications.
The newly-created permanent position, based at Buckingham Palace
within the Private Secretary’s Office, will see the successful
candidate produce video and photographic content for the Royal
Family’s official social media channels, including Instagram, X and
YouTube.
With millions of followers across its digital platforms, the
Royal Household has increasingly embraced social media to share
engagements, state occasions and behind-the-scenes moments with
audiences around the world. The creation of a dedicated
videographer role is the first time such a specialist position has
been advertised by the Royal Household.
The successful applicant will be responsible for planning,
filming, editing and publishing content from royal visits, major
ceremonial events and official initiatives across the UK and,
occasionally, overseas.
The job advert says the role will take a “social-first approach
to storytelling”, creating content designed specifically for
digital audiences while ensuring it remains “engaging, creative and
impactful”.
As well as covering high-profile engagements, the videographer
will be expected to develop innovative content ideas, identify
stories from across the Royal Household, train colleagues in
content creation and help shape future investment in filming
equipment.
Applicants are expected to have extensive experience creating
social media content, with strong skills in professional camera
operation, lighting and audio, alongside expertise in Adobe
Premiere Pro and After Effects.
The Royal Household is offering a starting salary of £52,000 a
year for the full-time permanent position, based at Buckingham
Palace. The successful candidate will also receive benefits
including a non-contributory pension with a 15% employer
contribution, complimentary lunches, staff discounts and free
admission to Royal Collection Trust sites.
Applications close on July 12th.
