Meghan Markle ‘Expecting The Worst’ Ahead Of UK Trip, As Duchess’s Fears Are Revealed Amid Royal Family Rift

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s anticipated return to the UK with their kids continues to be a hot topic among insiders due to the couple’s dramatic exit from the royal family and the drama that ensued.

Now, close sources claim the duchess isn’t particularly excited about the trip, as she fears they may be walking into a “trap” and is not expecting a warm reception.

This development follows ongoing reports of Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s deep reluctance regarding a potential UK return for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

According to Sky News Australia, Meghan is “terrified” of her big return to the UK next week with Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Well-placed sources claim the Duchess of Sussex dreads the idea of coming back as she does not “trust” the palace due to alleged rumors spread about her, especially after her royal exit.

“[Meghan] doesn’t trust the palace one bit. In her mind, they’ve spent years spreading poisonous rumours about her, so she’s finding it very hard to believe anyone’s suddenly had a change of heart,” an insider told the Daily Examiner.

Despite her reservations, the former actress is reportedly trying to remain resilient ahead of the upcoming travel because “she knows how much this trip means to Harry,” who is eager to repair his fractured relationships with the royal family, particularly his father, King Charles.

“But she’s admitted that she’s terrified they’re walking into a trap,” the source added.

The Duchess Is Suspicious Of Palace Courtiers

Sources further claim that Meghan is wary of courtiers at the palace as she believes “plenty of them are on the warpath against her and Harry” and are secretly hoping for the couple to “finally lose their status.”

“[Harry] keeps telling her she’s expecting the worst and insists his father genuinely wants to see them, but that’s not doing a whole lot to ease her fears,” the insider noted about the duchess’s concerns.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are said to have agreed to some strict terms ahead of their visit, especially in relation to their rumored meeting with King Charles.

According to the Daily Mail, royal expert Alison Boshoff, who claims to have insiders in the Sussex camp, noted that the duo’s meeting with the monarch will be “strictly private” and with “no cameras, no subsequent Instagram posts, no revelations in interviews afterwards.”

“Charles has let him know that he is really looking forward to seeing his grandchildren. Harry is looking forward to the visit and to building bridges. That is what everyone wants,” Boshoff’s source added.

Prince Harry Is ‘Encouraging’ Meghan Markle To Meet Kate Middleton During Their Visit

Away from the duchess’s alleged worries about her upcoming return to the UK, her husband Harry is said to be “encouraging” her to have a meeting with the Princess of Wales, Kate.

The ladies notably clashed over a variety of issues, from Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress being too baggy to an alleged “baby brain” comment made by Meghan, which is said to have upset Kate after she had just given birth to Prince Louis.

Harry reportedly hopes that Kate and Meghan can sort out their issues and reconcile, as he still has a lot of respect for the future queen, whom he was once very close to.

“Harry’s been gently encouraging Meghan to make the first move because he genuinely believes Kate would be receptive if she’s open to sitting down and clearing the air,” a source told Star Magazine.

They added, “He still has a huge amount of love and respect for Kate, and from everything they’ve shared over the years, he doesn’t think she’s someone who holds onto bitterness forever.”

While Meghan is reportedly wary of her upcoming trip to the UK, she is said to be open to her husband’s request to meet with Kate and resolve their differences.

“Meghan agrees it’s worth trying because she knows making peace with Kate publicly would go a long way towards repairing her battered reputation and showing she’s serious about turning over a new leaf,” an insider told Star Magazine.

Sources further noted that Harry and Meghan hope to preserve their current royal standing, particularly regarding their official titles, and that reconciling with the Waleses is “crucial” to achieving that goal.

Prince Harry And William Reunion Still Unlikely

Despite Harry’s ongoing efforts to mend family relationships, a reunion with William is still considered unlikely by many royal insiders.

The duke has spoken openly about his desire for reconciliation, telling the BBC in May 2025 that he sees little value in continuing family disputes.

At the same time, he acknowledged that some relatives may never fully forgive him for publishing his memoir, “Spare,” and for comments made during various media interviews.
