T.I. says he’s done making albums after more than two decades in hip-hop—but his sons aren’t convinced.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the 2026 BET Awards on Sunday (June 28), T.I. was asked whether his newly released Kill the King would indeed be his final album.
“Yes,” he replied without hesitation.
His sons, Domani and King Harris, were also present and immediately pushed back.
“I don’t think so,” Domani said.
“I would hate for it to be,” King added.
T.I. smiled before explaining why he believes the time has come to step aside.
“I mean I think it’s their time to go ahead and speak for the generation and handle it and hold it down for the world,” he said. “It’s time, that’s why the King’s Succession Tour is very important. You should get there and check us out. Me, Domani, King … you know, a passing of the torch, if you will.”
The comments reinforce what T.I. has been saying through the release of Kill the King, his 12th studio album, which arrived on Friday (June 26). The project has been billed as the final entry in his catalog and the closing chapter of a concept he first introduced years ago.
The idea dates back nearly a decade. T.I. first revealed plans for Kill the King in 2017, describing it as the conclusion of a trilogy. Nine years later, he followed through with the release.
The album is a family affair. His daughter, 10-year-old Heiress Harris, appears on the opening track, while the Pharrell-produced single “Let ‘Em Know” became a No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart.
The closing moments of the album feature a mysterious whispering voice saying, “To be continued,” fueling speculation that another project or at least a deluxe edition could still be on the horizon.
