Jessie Eisenberg might not be a fan of Donald Trump‘s politics, but he is very proud to be an American.
“The Social Network” actor recently shared his thoughts on the trend of Hollywood stars fleeing the nation in light of Trump’s leadership, admitting it’s not for him.
Powerhouses like Ellen DeGeneres, James Cameron, and Rosie O’Donnell are among the many who have escaped because of the Republican leader.

During an appearance at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, where he received the President’s Award, Eisenberg revealed why he hasn’t cashed in his Polish citizenship.
The actor achieved dual citizenship status last year after applying in 2024 following his work on the movie, “A Real Pain.” Nevertheless, Eisenberg is staying put.
“I am a very lucky American. I have a nice life. My wife is a teacher, and she teaches a lot of students who are not as lucky as we are,” he explained to Variety.
Due to his privilege, Eisenberg believes he and his wife have a “responsibility” to remain in their New York home to “help those who are struggling through a tougher period in American history.”
Concluding his speech in what seemed like a jab at other fleeing celebs, the actor said, “No, I’m not going to leave because I don’t like the politics of America. That seems a little silly, because my life is very good.”

While life in the US is good for Eisenberg, comedian Ellen DeGeneres didn’t feel that way after Trump defeated former vice president Kamala Harris in the November 2024 elections.
The former talk show host and her wife, Portia De Rossi, relocated immediately to the UK and have since been living there. Dishing on her decision, DeGeneres admitted in an interview that Trump’s victory was the final straw.
“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis. And I was like, ‘He got in.’ And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here,’” she recalled, per The Blast.
According to the 68-year-old, one of her major worries was the attack on LGBTQ+ rights that came with Trump’s leadership. DeGeneres also expressed a desire to remarry her wife in the UK if same-sex marriage is ever banned in the US.
Rosie O’Donnell Escaped America For Her ‘Safety’

Similar to DeGeneres’ case, fellow comedian Rosie O’Donnell left the US for Ireland as a protest against the Republican’s administration. The former “The View” host took off with their non-binary child, and they are soon to get their Irish citizenship.
As reported by The Blast, O’Donnell admitted her relocation was necessary for “the safety and sanity of myself and my non-binary child.”
Luckily, the move is doing wonders for the media personality, who gushed about how “unbearably kind” residents of the area have been since her arrival.
O’Donnell, who described herself as a “political person,” also expressed shock at DeGeneres’ relocation.
James Cameron Gushed About ‘Sane’ Life In New Zealand

Famed director James Cameron didn’t wait until the elections before moving his family to New Zealand, where he has been living since 2020.
According to the “Avatar” filmmaker, he was inspired to leave the US because of how the COVID-19 pandemic was handled, praising his new country home for completely eliminating the virus.
“This is why I love New Zealand. People there are, for the most part, sane as opposed to the United States, where you had a 62% vaccination rate, and that’s going down – going the wrong direction,” he said, per The Blast.
Although he didn’t directly name Trump, Cameron slammed America for being “extremely polarized” and “turning its back on science.”

Unlike other stars who have made the move to get away from the US, comedian Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly in the consideration stage, given his famous feud with the president.
The Blast reported that the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host opened up about his Italian citizenship, saying he has no problem using it if Trump’s leadership continues.
“I did get Italian citizenship; I do have that. What’s going on is as bad as you thought it was gonna be. It’s so much worse, it’s just unbelievable,” he lamented.
