Every detail mattered at Taylor Swift’s wedding, and her bouquet was no exception.
Swift, 36, marriedTravis Kelce, also 36, in a massive ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3. One wedding guest, Ashley Smith, sister of Kansas City Chiefs player Trey Smith, revealed on Instagram two days later that she was the lucky lady to catch Swift’s bouquet.
“Celebrated an Enchanting Love S(T&T)ory 🤍✨🤍 And somehow…I ended up catching Tay Tay’s bouquet. 💐,” Ashely wrote on Sunday, July 3, alongside photos with her bundle of flowers. “So here’s to believing it’s bringing a lifetime of love, luck, and laughter my way. ☺️ Congratulations, Taylor & Travis! Cheers to forever T&T! 🤍🥂🤍.”

Larry Walshe, celebrity event designer and founder of Larry Walshe Studios, breaks down the potential significance behind Swift’s flower choices exclusively to PEOPLE.
Ahead of the wedding, Walshe, whose A-list clients include Rihanna, Adele, Stella McCartney, and Benedict Cumberbatch anticipated that Swift might choose “wildly romantic, garden-style blooms” — and he was right.
“This gestural, meadow-inspired combination is exactly what I predicted would be the perfect look and feel for Taylor. It exudes a sense of effortless luxury, drawing directly from the garden for a beautifully naturalistic feel,” Walshe tells PEOPLE.
“By pairing just two ingredients, Queen Anne’s Lace and pale pink sweet peas, the design is wonderfully simple yet impactful. The choice of a satin ribbon that tonally matches the sweet peas is a thoughtful touch, grounding the delicate stems with a polished and cohesive finish.”
Walshe adds, “Both varieties are wildly gestural, romantic blooms that bring the spirit of the garden indoors. Sweet peas, as their name suggests, carry a sweet, gentle fragrance that is entirely bewitching.”
In floriography, the Victorian language of flowers, Walshe notes that pale pink sweet peas represent pure happiness, while Daucus (Queen Anne’s Lace) symbolizes feminine grace, delicacy and sanctuary. “Because both varieties are highly delicate and do not last long out of water, it is clear that symbolism and aesthetic gesture were prioritized over longevity.”
Walshe also suggests that the bouquet Ashley caught was likely “a tossing bouquet rather than the bridal bouquet itself.”
“In recent years, the emphasis has shifted away from throwing the actual bouquet, as brides frequently prefer to dry or preserve their original arrangement for sentimental value,” he explains. “Having a smaller, similar replica to throw during the festivities allows the bride to keep her original piece of history while still honoring the tradition.”
