Jon Gosselin’s wife, Stephanie Lebo, is seemingly showing her public support for stepson Collin Gosselin amid his ongoing estrangement from mom Kate Gosselin.
“Love seeing you live the life you always deserved,” Lebo, 38, wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, July 5, reposting photos that Collin, 22, shared for the Fourth of July.
Lebo added, “And again, LIVE YOUR LIFE!”
Collin’s photos showed him spending time on a boat in Newport Beach, California.
“Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸,” he captioned the photos on Sunday. “Grateful for the people who have fought, served, and worked to expand freedom across generations so that we can call this country home. Feeling blessed to celebrate our history, and commitment to building a nation where people of every background, culture, and community can belong, thrive, and be free. We may be imperfect at times, but nonetheless we should strive as a people to build back better and show strength as a nation.”
Collin concluded, “Freedom is something to cherish, protect, and extend to everyone. Happy 250th❤️🤍💙.”
His post comes weeks after Us Weekly exclusively revealed the cover of Collin’s memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, which will delve into his life during and after his family’s time on the TLC reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8.
The early 2000s show documented Jon, 49, and Kate, 51, as they raised twins Mady and Cara, 25, and sextuplets Collin, Aaden, Joel, Leah, Alexis and Hannah, all 22. Following the exes’ 2009 divorce, the show was retitled Kate Plus 8.
“My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown — in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden,” Collin exclusively told Us. “For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation.”
He continued, “Now, finally, I’m sharing what was really happening behind the scenes. This book is about truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced. If my story helps even one person feel less alone or gives them the courage to tell their own, then every difficult page was worth writing.”
Collin has been estranged from Kate since he was sent to a behavioral institute at age 11. He remained in the facility for two years and subsequently moved in with Jon, who gained custody of the then-teen.
Collin has claimed that Kate institutionalized him in order to keep him from speaking out about her alleged abuse, including hitting him as a toddler and locking him in a basement. Kate has denied his allegations, claiming that she sent him away due to “violent and unpredictable behavior.”
Kate addressed Collin’s abuse allegations in recent TikTok comments, revealing whether she planned to take legal action against her son.
“The rules are different for ppl in the public eye. I consulted a high power LA attorney (you’ve definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that’s what he said,” she wrote. “The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye :(.”
