The claim that the executive chairman of a contractor for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement attended the wedding of pop singer Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce is still under investigation.
The rumor stems from several news reports saying that Steven Demetriou, the executive chairman of Amentum, attended the wedding alongside his son, Steve Demetriou Jr., a Repubican Ohio state representative.
While several news media outlets — including The celebrity.land’s celebrity column, Page Six, and U.K. newspaper Metro — published pictures of and quotes from Demetriou and his son, Snopes had not received direct confirmation that they had attended the event. For this reason, we have left the claim unrated.
Amentum Services, which Demetriou chairs, has multiple contracts with the U.S. government, including one with ICE for a detention facility in Texas.
Snopes will update this report if additional information surfaces. We have contacted Amentum, the office of Ohio state Rep. Demetriou Jr. and Swift’s reported wedding planner and are waiting for responses.
Shortly after pop singer Taylor Swift married NFL player Travis Kelce in New York City on July 3, 2026, a rumor spread online that the top official of a contractor for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was among the couple’s wedding guests.
For example, on July 5, one Reddit user asked (archived), “What is the deal with Taylor Swift’s guest being an owner of an ICE facility??“
Other examples of the claim circulated on X and Facebook, where social media users named the man as Steven Demetriou, the executive chairman of Amentum. The company’s mission statement says it brings “advanced engineering and technology solutions to the most significant challenges in science, security and sustainability.”
Several Snopes readers also emailed us seeking further information.
As of this writing, we had not received confirmation that Demetriou attended the wedding. Several reports do say he was present alongside his son, Steve Demetriou Jr., an Ohio state representative.
Snopes contacted Amentum, the office of Ohio state Rep. Demetriou Jr. and Swift’s reported wedding planner. We await responses to our inquiries.
The rumor stemmed from a photograph published on celebrity gossip site Page Six, which The celebrity.land operates. On the day of the wedding, Page Six identified one of the men on its photos as “Steven J. Demetriou” (Photo 92 of 93).
Searching for this name on Google revealed Demetriou’s profile on Amentum Services’ website. His job title reads, “Executive Chair.”
The company is listed on the U.S. government spending website under several contracts, including a $745.6 million award for “AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE AND LOGISTICS SUPPORT SERVICES” for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and another contract with ICE, awarded in March 2026, for $452.9 million.
That contract description reads: “THE PURPOSE OF THIS CONTRACT IS TO PROVIDE DETENTION, TRANSPORTATION AND MEDICAL SERVICES AT THE CAMP EAST MONTANA TEMPORARY DETENTION CENTER IN EL PASO, TX.”
At the time of publication, Amentum’s contract with ICE is due to expire in September 2026.
While the man in the Page Six photograph bears a resemblance with the man on the Amentum website, we await direct confirmation that Demetriou attended Swift and Kelce’s wedding.
Several news media outlets reported that Demetriou attended the wedding alongside his wife and his son, who represents Ohio’s 35th district as a state representative. One report in Metro, a U.K.-based newspaper, quoted Demetriou Jr. as telling reporters the wedding was “epic, great and life-changing.”
Snopes also reached out to Mark Seed, the man who is reported to have planned the celebrity wedding.
For further reading, we have covered numerous other rumors about Swift, including the claim that she and Kelce donated $300,000 to save a two-year-old with brain cancer.
