Ozark star Julia Garner has boarded Apple TV’s adaptation of Mikita Brottman’s true crime book, Guilty Creatures. The three-time Emmy winner will also serve as an executive producer on the thriller, which has Supergirl‘s Craig Gillespie attached to direct.
Garner’s recent credits include You Can’t Win, Weapons, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Wolf Man, and Apartment 7A.
“Based on the book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida, the series delves into the psyche of a torrid romance and subsequent act of murder between two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers, unraveling their complex lives and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years,” reads Apple TV’s synopsis. “This riveting true-crime narrative, set against a backdrop of sex and murder in the Florida panhandle, promises to become an instant classic.”
Stuart Zicherman (The Shrink Next Door) will guide the series as showrunner, and Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies) adapted Mikita Brottman’s novel. Executive producers include Zicherman, DeLappe, Gillespie, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Alissa Bachner, Annie Marter, and author Brottman. The series is produced by Tomorrow Studios.
