MCCALLSBURG — In a game that featured four lead changes and a tie in the fourth inning, the Baxter softball team came out victorious against Colo- NESCO on June 29.
The Bolts scored first and put up four crooked numbers and Blaire Jutting got her first win in the circle during a 12-11 win over the Royals in the Iowa Star Conference South Division matchup.
Baxter led 3-0 after one inning, trailed 5-3 after two, went in front 7-5 with a four-run third and trailed 10-7 after three.
The Bolts tied the game at 10-all following a three-run fourth and went ahead for good with a two-run fifth. Colo-NESCO scored once in the sixth, but it was not enough.
It was Baxter’s fourth straight win over the Royals, who fell to 0-20 and 0-16 despite two hits, two runs and five RBIs from Landrey Harris.
The Bolts out-hit Colo-NESCO 11-10, and the Royals committed six of the game’s 10 errors.
Baxter’s four wins are its most since winning five in 2022.
Olivia Parrie, Emileigh Beals, Madison Jochems and Camden Moffit all had two hits to lead the Bolts.

Parrie scored four runs, walked twice and stole two bases, Beals tripled twice, scored three runs and had two RBIs, Jochems doubled, scored one run and had one steal and Moffit walked once and stole two bases.
Parrie leads Baxter (4-21, 2-14 in the conference) with 17 runs and Jochems has a team-best 12 steals.
Lillian Grunsted totaled one hit, two runs and two RBIs, Savannah Frasher posted one hit, one run, two RBIs and two hit by pitches and Avery Wonders had one hit, one run, one RBI and one steal. Mazie Humston also was hit by a pitch and Jutting stole one base.
Grunsted leads the Bolts with 12 RBIs and 27 total bases.
Katt Wing tossed five innings and allowed three runs — two earned — on six hits and two walks and struck out five.
Jutting (1-13) surrendered eight runs — three earned — on two hits, four walks and one hit batter and she struck out four in two innings.

Ogden 8, Baxter 0, five innings
OGDEN — The Bolts fell behind early and never recovered during an 8-0 loss to Ogden on June 30.
Baxter was limited to five hits at the plate and both teams committed one error but the Bulldogs scored twice in the first two frames and ended the game early with a three-run third in the non-conference contest.
Parrie, Beals, Grunsted, Moffit and Jutting had the five hits. Jutting took the pitching loss after giving up eight runs — five earned — on seven hits, four walks and one hit batter in five innings. She struck out one.
Grace Christensen finished with two hits and three RBIs and Aubrey Leonard totaled one hit, two runs, two RBIs, two walks and two steals to lead Ogden (20-14).
