Liberty Collective, an 18,000sqft complex in Liberty Township, has deployed Atmosphere platform to overcome intelligibility issues created by its open-plan, high-ceilinged design
AtlasIED’s Atmosphere platform has been installed at Liberty Collective, an 18,000sqft, two-storey entertainment complex in Liberty Township, in Ohio, featuring five restaurant concepts, a coffee and breakfast bar, an ice cream shop and three bars across indoor and outdoor seating areas.
Integrator iCOMM Communications specified the platform for the venue’s background music system, addressing intelligibility issues created by its high ceilings and large open area between floors.
At the centre of the installation is an Atmosphere AZM8, an eight-zone digital signal processor with a built-in message player, virtual wall controllers, ambient noise sensing, Tilter Filter, auto-gain, GPIO and room combine functionality. Two zones cover the east and west sides of each floor, with separate outdoor zones for each side of the building. Programming runs through an on-board web interface, with built-in Wi-Fi allowing tablets and other devices to connect directly via rights-based access.
The system is powered by AtlasIED’s DPA804, DPA1202, DPA2402 and HPA4202 amplifiers, ranging from 800 to 4,800 watts and supporting 25V/70V/100V and low-impedance distributed systems.
Garage doors that open in warm weather created considerable wind inside the building, ruling out pendant loudspeakers. iCOMM instead specified AtlasIED’s SM82T surface-mount loudspeakers, positioned closer to listeners. Outside, 12 AS-8T compact surface-mount loudspeakers were mounted on light poles around the venue’s sand volleyball courts, chosen for their IP55 weather resistance. ALA20T column line-array loudspeakers flank a 25ft-wide LED screen behind one of the bars, combining twenty 3in full-range drivers with six 0.75in tweeters for speech intelligibility.
Ken Sargent, owner of iCOMM Communications, said he had specified AtlasIED products for around 15 years and turned to Atmosphere given the venue’s largely background-music use case. “The audio experience is exceptional both inside and out,” Sargent said.
Andy Black, territory sales manager for Southwest Ohio and Kentucky at McFadden Sales, added that the coverage felt even throughout the space, meaning the loudspeakers did not need to be overdriven to fill the room. “That’s especially hard to pull off in a large, reverberant space like this, so I was genuinely impressed by how good it sounded,” Black added.
