Things heat up Friday night at the Gaukel Block in downtown Kitchener for DTK Latin Heat and and Outdoor Bar. There will be free dance lessons at 7 p.m. followed by social dancing until about 11 p.m.
Music at the Square is a performance by the Waterloo Concert Band on Sunday at 7 p.m. in Waterloo Public Square. It’s free, just bring your own lawn chair or find a bench to enjoy the music.
In Kitchener’s Victoria Park, set up has been happening all week for the 5K Foam Fest run. Participants run the course, but along the way they get sprayed with water and bubbles, go down the massive inflatable slides and tackle a total of 25 obstacles.

The wiener dog races are back at Grand River Raceway Friday night with 30 dogs racing for glory. Admission is free and the doors open at 5:30 p.m. The tagline for the event is “there are no losers, just wieners.”
Saturday, find something new to you at the Great Downtown Guelph Garage Sale. It runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and because of construction, it will be held on Cork and Macdonell streets.
Friday night, the Kitchener Panthers are in Chatham and the Guelph Royals are in London. Saturday and Sunday are dedicated to the Canadian Baseball League’s all-star game, which is being hosted by the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.

There’s also live music all weekend including Just Jovi, a tribute to Bon Jovi, Street Survivors who cover Lynyrd Skynyrd songs and The Tragically Trip which, you guessed it, cover The Tragically Hip.
Canada Celebrates, FIFA World Cup 2026 fan party
Saturday at 3 p.m.
Kitchener city hall
This is an official FIFA fan event and there will be soccer activities, skills challenges, music, food trucks and screens up for the games.
Norway takes on England at 5 p.m., then Argentina and Switzerland hit the pitch at 9 p.m.
Watch parties are also being held at the Kitchener Market and the Gaslight District in Cambridge.
Hespeler Reunion

This reunion invites current and past Hespeler residents (and people who just want to enjoy the vibe) to celebrate.
There are so many events as part of this reunion: a midway, art show, pickleball, vendor and art market, kids area, hockey games, softball games, soapbox derby, live music, a dance, family activities, swimming and open houses. It all ends with a drone show Sunday evening.
Bug Out

K-W Optimist Club’s Camp Heidelberg, 2001 Kressler Road, Heidelberg
We’re not talking insects. This is a Volkswagen car show and it’s one of the largest in Ontario.
Will a Herbie look-alike be on hand?
Held by the K-W and Area Bug Club, cars will be on display and people can check out the vendors.
Admission can be paid at the door in cash and organizers stress this is a cash only event.
United in Voices Festival
Saturday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Pavilion in Kitchener’s Victoria Park
The Grand River Friendship Society is hosting this festival that will include dialogue sessions led by local youth, art and storytelling activities, live music and other performances including a concert by the Duende Kings.
It’s all with the goal of promoting inclusion and giving people the chance to connect and learn from each other.
