Actor Akansha Ranjan married filmmaker Sharan Sharma on July 11 in Mumbai in the presence of family and friends. Sharing the first pictures from the wedding on social media, Akansha shared a note for her husband as friends from the film industry, led by Alia Bhatt, sent their wishes in the comments.
Akansha and Sharan got married on the same date they began dating four years ago. The couple, who have largely kept their relationship private, exchanged vows during a sunset ceremony held in the garden of their residence before signing their marriage papers in an intimate celebration.
For the wedding, Akansha wore a traditional red-and-gold outfit, while Sharan wore white. Pictures from the ceremony show Akansha getting emotional as the two exchanged vows and signed the marriage papers. While sharing the photographs on her Instagram handle, she wrote, “tu na toh ghar ghar nahi lagta, tu hain toh darr nahi lagta (Home doesn’t feel like home without you, I don’t feel fear with you there) (sic),” with an infinity emoji.
Actor Alia Bhatt led the congratulatory messages in the comments with sun emojis. Actor Prakash Raj’s wife, choreographer Pony Prakash, wrote, “Congratulations my baby .. god bless you muahhhhhhhhhhhhhh (sic).” Actor Wamiqa Gabbi commented, “Uff you guys, Congratulations (sic),” while Ananya Panday wrote, “Aw cuties !!!! Love yall (sic).” Actors Malaika Arora, Athiya Shetty and producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Anshula Kapoor were among others who also sent love to the couple.
Videos from Akansha and Sharan’s pre-wedding celebrations, held on Friday, also circulated on social media. The sangeet was attended by Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Karan Johar and others. Janhvi danced to Shava Shava from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, while Karan recreated actor Salman Khan’s Jeene Ke Hain Chaar Din moves from Mujhse Shaadi Karoge. Alia danced to Maahi Ve from Kal Ho Naa Ho alongside the bride’s sister, Anushka Ranjan Kapoor, and her actor-husband, Aditya Seal.
The couple is expected to host a grand reception on July 12, with more film personalities likely to attend. Akansha was recently seen in the Netflix film Ikka, directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, which also features actors Akshaye Khanna, Sunny Deol, Dia Mirza and Tillotama Shome.
Akanksha was also part of Prime Video’s Gram Chikitsalaya Season 2.
