‘America’s Time Capsule’ has been officially sealed. What’s inside?
All 50 states contributed items to “America’s Time Capsule,” which will be buried in Philadelphia on July 4 and will be opened 250 years later.
COSHOCTON − Historical presentations, a patriotic concert, a pub crawl, Revolutionary War reenactments, live music and a car show was just a few of the free ways to celebrate America250 across Coshocton County.
The celebration starts July 16 and concludes July 19, with free tours of Roscoe Village historic sites, complimentary admission to the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum, free canal boat rides, and a historic lecture.
Here’s list of activities:
July 16
Betty Zane: Heroine of the Revolution presentation from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Coshocton County District Library.
“The Secret Garden” musical presentation by GhostBox Productions at 7 p.m. at Clary Gardens. General admission is $15; students and seniors are $10. Tickets available at ghostboxproductions.com. Repeat performance on July 18.
July 17
Cheers to 250 Years Pub Crawl sponsored by Our Town Coshocton at 4 p.m. at restaurants and bars throughout Roscoe Village and Downtown Coshocton. A list of participating businesses and more information can be found on the OTC Facebook page.
Coshocton Model Railroad Club open house from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Coshocton County Fairground.
Coshocton Community Band will present a patriotic concert at 7 p.m. on the Court Square.
July 18
Riverwalk with Coshocton County Administrator Mary Beck and Native American artist Holly Wilson at 8 a.m. at Skip’s Landing.
Coshocton County Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Skip’s Landing.
Dave Barno will have a Revolutionary War encampment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Skip’s Landing. Will be repeated on July 19.
Historical interpretations by members of Ghostbox Productions from noon to 4 p.m. at Clary Gardens.
Individuals are encouraged to have a picnic on the Court Square from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Free tours of the Coshocton County Courthouse from noon to 4 p.m.
Ken Smailes will talk about local history from noon to 4 p.m. at the courthouse.
Here One Turns to Go Up River presentation with wood-fired cooking and storytelling starting at noon at the artPARK.
Three Rivers Fire District car show from noon to 5 p.m. along Main Street and around the Court Square.
An American Musical History featuring folk, jazz and Appalachian music from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the artPARK.
Our Town Coshocton summer concert series will feature 7 Bridges, an Eagles tribute band, at 7:30 p.m. at the Court Square. An illumination of the courthouse will follow.
July 19
Tours of historic buildings at Roscoe Village and free admission to the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rides on the Monticello III canal boat will be at 1, 2 , 3 and 4 p.m. at the canal boat landing near Lake Park.
A historic lecture will be at 2 p.m. at the Roscoe Village Visitors Center.
