Hayden Panettiere and Tori Spelling both canceled appearances at a California horror convention over the weekend due to emergencies.
Event organizers at the Creep I.E. Aftermath convention in Ontario, Calif., announced on Friday that Spelling would no longer be in attendance due to an unspecified “emergency.” The next day, they confirmed that Panettiere had also suffered an “emergency and will not be able to attend this weekend.”
In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, a representative for Panettiere shared more details on the situation surrounding the Heroes star’s unexpected cancellation.

“Hayden canceled her appearance due to a private family matter concerning the health of an elderly relative,” they said.
Representatives for Spelling did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.
Creep I.E. Aftermath previously had teased that Panettiere was set to have an “iconic” Scream 4 reunion with her costar Nico Tortorella at the event.
In their original statement, the convention noted that a new guest would be announced to replace Panettiere. They later revealed that Dominique Swain (Face/Off) had joined the event’s lineup.
Spelling was similarly replaced on the convention’s roster by her close pal and Beverly Hills, 90210 costar Brian Austin Green.

Panettiere and Spelling aren’t the only stars who had to change their convention plans. Christina Ricci, Jimmy Workman, John Carroll Lynch, and Carel Struycken all rescheduled their appearances at the convention for next February. Kevin Durand also canceled his attendance.
The event, which was held at the Ontario Convention Center from July 10 to July 12, featured a collection of stars including Christopher Lloyd, Jamie Campbell Bower, Billy Boyd, Cheech and Chong, Danny Trejo, and more.
