A host of big-time celebrities, from Ben Stiller to Benedict Cumberbatch to Rami Malek to Anna Wintour, attended the men’s singles final at Wimbledon on Sunday afternoon.
Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1, took down No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev in four sets at Center Court on Sunday.
However, while Sinner was taking down Zverev, Sacha Baron Cohen attended the match, in character. Baron Cohen, known for his comedy, is bringing back his iconic “Ali G” character from earlier this century.
“Ali G has returned and is currently at Wimbledon,” Discussing Film shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Page Six had details on his return.
“Spies saw the star — seated in section 215 — in the outrageous character’s full mode, in the stands in a white track jacket that says, ‘Official Wimbledon Ganja Dealer’ on the back. He also was sporting a thick gold rope chain and other typical Ali G accoutrements,” they reported.
“The character — hailing from Staines-upon-Thames — first appeared on the UK’s ‘The 11 O’Clock Show’ as the infamous ‘voice of da yoof.’ And like his ‘Borat’ character, guests on Ali G’s show were usually duped by the star into thinking he was real. Ali G later got his own show and movie.”
Not everyone was happy with the stunt, though
“He’s 54 years old,” one critic wrote.
“In 2026?” one fan added.
“Sacha Baron Cohen is worthless,” another fan added.
“This character stopped being funny in 2013,” another fan added.
“Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson acting like they’re still teen heartthrobs in 2026 is 100x more dignified than this,” another fan joked.
“It’s 2026 and you are reaching 60 brother,” another fan added.
It’s unclear how Wimbledon feels about the stunt, though officials likely weren’t too happy with it, considering their typical standards for behavior.
