Key Points
The View ladies love Bridgerton.
Alyssa Farah Griffin says that her husband has come to learn that she’ll “have sex with him” after watching an episode of the spicy historical drama.
Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin also expressed their love for the show’s season 1 romance between Simon and Daphne.
Dearest gentle reader, things got a little spicy on The View today.
During a discussion about the health benefits of reading smut-filled books, several cohosts took a moment to share their appreciation for the Bridgerton books and how they helped them, well… get in the mood.
“How about Le Bridgerton,” Sara Haines commented, to which her cohost Sunny Hostin fired back, “Yeah, episode 5, season 1!”

Haines then quipped, “I have worn that out, Sunny!” The pair then gave each other a fist bump in celebration.
The first season of Bridgerton follows the passionate and tumultuous relationship between Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page). The particular episode that Hostin shouted out details Daphne and Simon’s wedding day and their steamy night together afterward.
In general, Haines explained that she doesn’t like to call it smut, but rather “foreplay. “If I ever even slightly hit on Max in bed, he goes, ‘What are you watching?'” she explained. “Because he knows it happens right after.”
And Hostin knew exactly which show would cause that reaction. “Bridgerton!” she chanted.
They’re not the only cohosts who have fallen for the Netflix historical drama, either.
“My husband has zero interest in Bridgerton other than he knows I’ll have sex with him after watching,” Alyssa Farah Griffin, who married her husband Justin Griffin in 2021, confessed. “It’s the only reason!”
There was one person at the Hot Topics table, however, who was not so keen on hearing all about their cohosts’ sex lives. “TMI!” Whoopi Goldberg shouted as her cohosts laughed. “All of you!’

The moderator went on to note that she missed the days when publications like Playboy and Playgirl were considered “smut,” not these types of longform, sexually explicit books.

“There’s smut, and then there’s smuuut,” Goldberg clarified, emphasizing the latter. “I don’t think y’all would do well with smuuuuuut.”
And, thankfully, there’s plenty more Bridgerton on the way for the ladies of The View. Seasons 5 and 6 have already been greenlit and are set to follow Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) and Eloise’s (Claudia Jessie) relationships, respectively.
The View airs weekdays on ABC.
