Prince Harry reportedly takes the lead whenever decisions involve King Charles and the Royal Family
Meghan Markle planned to join Harry for several outings during his return to the UK. Security concerns changed those plans and prevented Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, from making a full visit. Meghan later returned to England for a private meeting with King Charles. During the trip she was not seen at any public events.
A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that Meghan felt “humiliated” while watching the public disagreement between Harry and the royal family. Another source reported that Meghan is “very supportive” of Harry and is “saddened by the way the week has gone”. However, another source explained that Meghan “always lets him lead” when Harry handles issues with his family.
Harry went to the countdown ceremony for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham without his wife, Meghan. The Duke of Sussex has previously attended Invictus Games events with Meghan, including the countdown celebrations. The couple earlier planned to bring Archie and Lilibet to the UK. Security concerns later created a public dispute with the palace officials.
Harry initially declined King Charles‘ request to stay at a royal residence but later agreed to it. Then the palace officials said the accommodation was unavailable because Harry did not respond in time. Harry then went back to the UK alone for charity events. Meghan and the children joined him later for a private reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Harry and Meghan have lost their UK police protection since they left royal duties and relocated to California in 2020. PEOPLE reported that RAVEC’s review of Harry’s security remains ongoing. In 2025, Harry told the BBC that he could not think of returning to the UK with his wife and children without security.
