Jennifer Garner had nothing but good things to say about ex-husband Ben Affleck 11 years after their 2015 separation.
In a July 16 interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress credited her “incredible co-parent” for giving her the freedom to star in her show, The Five Star Weekend. Garner said she initially turned down the part because it was supposed to shoot outside of Los Angeles. “I really only work in L.A. I have three teenagers, and I can’t leave for four months. It’s just not worth it to me,” she explained.
When producers came up with a plan for the show to shoot primarily in L.A. and a month in Nantucket, Garner said she could say yes to the job because of Affleck. “They can stay with their dad,” Garner said. “He’s wonderful. He takes care of them. He’s a great partner in that way. And so that’s very freeing.”
Garner and Affleck are parents to Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13. The couple married in 2005 and separated in 2015 before finalizing their divorce in 2018.

According to Garner, she once deprioritized work while caring for her and Affleck’s kids, but she’s slowly coming back to working more frequently, thanks in part to Affleck. “There is a time in your life where you just do get caught up in all of that,” Garner explained. “And that’s okay. Nothing is forever. That’s a season. And it’s a beautiful thing. And I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. But I feel like my kids are a little bigger 1784299862. Their dad has become this incredible co-parent.”
In October 2025, Affleck had similar things to say about co-parenting with Garner when he talked to Access Hollywood about his daughter Violet after she testified at the United Nations over mask bans.
“I could not be more proud of my children. I can’t even tell you,” said Affleck.
“[Violet] takes after her mom. She’s spectacular,” he continued, referring to Garner. “And I’m very lucky that I’ve got a great partner and that we got great kids. It’s the joy of my life and I’m just very, very lucky. And it makes me happy every day.”
